Thank you!
Karne is an artist living and working in Brooklyn,NY.
She is a figurative painter.  Her work explores the realms of political and personal.
An important aspect of her process involves appropriating textile patterns from Central America, some of which are from ancestral cities or towns. These patterns have meaning and are tools of communication, a language which is unknown to her. These designs are reclaimed and integrated into the paintings with the stories inspired by Latin American history, familial word of mouth and the surviving codices from Guatemala and Mexico. Her visual narratives  are an interweaving of these elements and provide a generative way to approach the elusive and fragmented aspects of her identity.
Karne has shown work in various group shows FEM/Feminine Energy Moves (DUMBO, March 2024); Unsettled (NYC, March 2023); [em]body (NYC, March 2022); Remnants, May 18- June11, at the Bertha and Karl Leubsdorf Gallery,132 E 68th St, New York, NY 10065, Sweet Flypaper Gallery (NYC, Fall 2018)
Karne received her BFA from Hunter College, NYC
